If you have a life-threatening emergency, dial 911.

Unless there is a life-threatening emergency, please call the office or advice nurse before going to the emergency room. We may be able to save you an unnecessary visit and make certain that you obtain care at the appropriate facility for your child and your health plan. We will be able to be involved in the care of your child only if we are informed.

After Hours

As a service to our patients, we have partnered with the Physicians Choice Medical Group and UCSF to provide after-hours care and advice. The San Francisco pediatric urgent care clinic is staffed by our own pediatricians as well as our local pediatric colleagues in private practice and at UCSF and is located at 3490 California Street in Suite 200, San Francisco CA 94118; the entrance is actually on Locust Street near California Street, marked by the portable sign for the Pediatic Evening Referral Clinic. You can also find details for the clinic on the UCSF PERC link. If your child needs an appointment after our regular office hours, call our PRG after hours advice nurse at 415-387-9293 to schedule an appointment time.  The clinic is conveniently open weekday evenings from 6pm-9:30pm and on Saturdays and Sundays and holidays from 8:30am-9:30pm. Our San Francisco patients living in the South side of the city may also seek after hours care at the Mission Bernal Pediatric Urgent Care (866-961-8588), and our Marin County patients may seek after hours care at the Marin Pediatric After Hours Clinic in Greenbrae (415-464-1350).

If you wish advice or if you are not sure whether your child needs to be seen, you may call the same number (415-387-9293) to speak to the PRG advice nurse who is available to take your phone calls through the night and 24 hours on weekends.  The advice nurses are well trained to take care of the majority of problems that arise.  However, for urgent matters after hours that cannot be handled by the Clinic or Advice Nurse, one of our pediatricians is on call at all times and can be reached through the answering service by calling the regular office number and pressing “8.” During regular business hours and after hours, if you are expecting a phone call from our staff or a physician, you must accept ID blocked calls.
